Lecture: Messages from the Extreme Universe – Hunting for Neutrinos in Ice and the Revolution Brought About by Artificial Intelligence

On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 8:00 PM, Lamarr PI Prof. Dr. Christian Glaser from TU Dortmund University will deliver a public lecture titled “Messages from the Extreme Universe – Neutrino Hunting in the Ice and the Revolution through Artificial Intelligence” at Planetarium Bochum. Directly connecting to the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics awarded to Francis Halzen for the discovery of high-energy cosmic neutrinos via the IceCube Neutrino Observatory, this presentation highlights how researchers now pursue even rarer and more energetic neutrinos. Neutrinos cross the cosmos virtually unimpeded, revealing hidden insights into black holes and exploding stars. To capture these elusive particles, giant observatories featuring radio antenna arrays are deployed within the ice sheets of Greenland and the South Pole to detect faint radio flashes caused by neutrino collisions.
