Breakout Session at greentech.ruhr: AI for Greater Sustainability – with Raphael Fischer
As part of the greentech.ruhr annual meeting on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, Raphael Fischer, Research Associate at the Lamarr Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, will lead a breakout session titled “KI für mehr Nachhaltigkeit” (AI for Greater Sustainability). The session forms part of an inspiring program hosted at the UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein in Essen, focusing on the transformation of the Ruhr region toward a sustainable, future-ready economy.
In his session, Raphael Fischer will explore how artificial intelligence can serve as a powerful enabler for sustainable development—supporting smarter resource use, boosting energy efficiency, and identifying untapped ecological and economic potential. The interactive format invites participants to discuss real-world applications, exchange experiences, and consider how AI can navigate current regulatory landscapes such as the EU Green Deal.
The greentech.ruhr annual meeting brings together trailblazing start-ups, established enterprises, and key political figures—including North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister for the Environment, Climate Protection and Transport, Oliver Krischer. With its mix of keynote talks, discussions, and thematic sessions, the event sets the stage for innovation, collaboration, and forward-thinking in green transformation.
