AI Colloquium with Prof. Dr. Gregor Kasieczka
The AI Colloquium, organized by the Lamarr Institute, the Research Center Trustworthy Data Science and Security (RC Trust) and the Center for Data Science & Simulation at TU Dortmund University (DoDas), provides a platform for leading researchers to present groundbreaking work in the field of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. These 90-minute sessions, which usually take place on Thursdays at 10 a.m. c.t., unlike other colloquia, focus on interactive dialog and international collaboration and include one-hour lectures and 30-minute Q&A sessions. The colloquium will be held mainly in English. The hybrid format of the colloquium ensures that all interested parties can participate in person in the lecture hall at Fraunhofer Straße 25 in Dortmund or online via our Lamarr YouTube channel. On February 20th, the AI Colloquium welcomes Prof. Dr. Gregor Kasieczka as its next speaker with a keynote entitled “The road to AI-based discovery”.
Prof. Dr. Gregor Kasieczka
Gregor Kasieczka has been a professor specializing in machine learning for particle physics at Universität Hamburg since 2017. His research centers on identifying rare particles through the CMS experiment and advancing innovative data analysis methods, such as anomaly detection, generative machine learning, and foundational models, within fundamental physics. He also co-authored the pioneering textbook Deep Learning for Physics Research, dedicated to applying machine learning in physics.
