Ribana Roscher is Professor of Machine Learning in Agriculture at the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation, University of Bonn – a position she has held since 2025. Her research focuses on Machine Learning methods for complex real-world data, with an emphasis on data-centric learning, explainable models, and uncertainty-aware approaches.
After receiving her Dipl.-Ing. and Ph.D. degrees in Geodesy from the University of Bonn, she held research positions at several academic and applied research institutions and was a Visiting Researcher at the Fields Institute in Toronto and IPAM, University of California, Los Angeles. She was Junior Professor of Remote Sensing at the University of Bonn (2015–2022), Guest Professor at the Technical University of Munich within the International Future Lab Artificial Intelligence for Earth Observation, and Professor of Data Science for Crop Systems at the University of Bonn, leading the corresponding group at Forschungszentrum Jülich (2022–2025).
Her work connects methodological advances in Machine Learning with applications in agriculture and environmental systems.
