Principal Investigator Embodied AI

Reinhard Klein is full professor of Computer Graphics at the University of Bonn since 2000. Previously, he was a professor at the University of Darmstadt and head of the Animation and Image Communication research group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics (1999-2000). He studied mathematics with physics as minor subject at the University of Tübingen. Also from the University of Tübingen, where he received his Ph.D. in Computer Science (1995), he received his Habilitation in Computer Science (1999). The research activities of his Computer Graphics Lab are at the intersection of Computer Graphics, Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence and aim at obtaining accurate and realistic digital replicas of real-world objects and scenes. He was the initiator of European IP projects in the fields of material appearance, digital twins, cultural heritage and architecture and coordinator of the X-Rite Graduate School for Digital Material Appearance at the University of Bonn (2012-2019).
