Prof. Dr.
Thomas Schultz

Principal Investigator Life Sciences & Health

Thomas Schultz is a professor at the University of Bonn since 2013,
working at the b-it and the Department of Computer Science. He studied
Computer Science and Medical Engineering at Saarland University,
Heidelberg University, and Linköping University, obtained his PhD in
computer science from Saarland University and the MPI for Computer
Science, and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of
Chicago and the MPI for Intelligent Systems.

His research develops novel methods for robust uncertainty
quantification, domain generalization, and explainability of deep
learning techniques. By integrating these with human-in-the-loop
approaches, he aims for trustworthy systems for image and video analysis
in medical applications, particularly in neuroradiology and ophthalmology.
