Prof. Dirk Hecker is Professor of Data Analytics at the University of Siegen and, as Deputy Director, heads the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS in Sankt Augustin/Bonn and the Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Research and Innovation Centre in Heilbronn.
He is also managing director of the Fraunhofer Alliance for Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, a network of over 30 Fraunhofer Institutes for cross-industry research and technology development in the field of AI and big data, and a member of the board of directors of the Fraunhofer Academy.
Prof. Dr. Dirk Hecker has many years of experience in managing research and industry projects in the field of data mining and machine learning. His current work focuses on generative AI, agentic AI and trustworthy artificial intelligence. He studied geoinformatics at the Universities of Cologne and Bonn and received his doctorate from the University of Cologne.
