Further information
Katharina Eggensperger is an Associate Professor for “Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence” at the Lamarr Institute and TU Dortmund University. Before joining the Lamarr Institute, she was an early Career Research Group Leader for “AutoML for Science” in the Cluster of Excellence Machine Learning for Science at the University of Tübingen. Before that she received her PhD from the University of Freiburg.
Her research focuses on methods for Automated Machine Learning (AutoML), with a particular emphasis on Tabular Machine Learning. By studying how to automatically design, select, and fit the best performing Machine Learning solution for a given task, she aims to leverage the full potential of Machine Learning for new applications, especially in science. She has co-developed widely used open-source tools for AutoML and hyperparameter optimization, and her work emphasizes systematic empirical evaluation and benchmarking to support reproducible and robust Machine Learning research.
