Further information
Mario Botsch is a full professor of Computer Graphics at TU Dortmund University. His research focuses on the efficient acquisition, discretization, optimization, animation, and visualization of three-dimensional geometric objects. On the theoretical side, his group explores flexible, non-standard geometry discretizations and the associated differential operators. On the applied side, they work on 3D scanning and motion capture of humans, modeling and animation of virtual characters, and real-time visualization in VR environments.
Before joining TU Dortmund in 2020, Mario Botsch was a professor of Computer Graphics at Bielefeld University (2008–2020). He earned his MSc in Mathematics from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg (1999) and his PhD in Computer Science from RWTH Aachen (2005), before doing a PostDoc at ETH Zurich (2005–2008).
