Further information

Hermann Blum joined Lamarr as Junior Professor for Robot Perception and Learning. His research investigates robots that can understand their environment semantically and geometrically, in order to perform manipulation and other safety critical tasks in proximity to humans. This encompasses detection of unknown, open-set objects in the environment, adaptation of robots to new environments, and continual self-supervised learning.

Hermann Blum studied electrical engineering and information technology at ETH Zürich and Imperial College London. He completed his PhD at the Autonomous Systems Lab of ETH Zürich in 2022. After an internship at Google Research and a PostDoc at the Computer Vision and Geometry Lab at ETH Zürich he joined the Lamarr Institute and University of Bonn in 2024.
