The United Nations’ global platform “AI for Good” recently launched the “Young AI Leader” community to promote young talent and drive ethical and responsible AI innovation. Within this framework, Lamarr scientist Raphael Fischer became part of the initiative and is building a community hub in the greater Dortmund area. This hub is one of over 80 community hubs worldwide and is looking forward to welcoming motivated members from the region and NRW. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 who is interested in doing good with artificial intelligence is welcome to apply – regardless of their background.

Raphael Fischer emphasizes the importance of the hub:

The Dortmund hub will be a central place for the exchange of innovative ideas. Here we want to work together on solutions that are not only technologically advanced, but also meet ethical standards. As part of the Lamarr team, I bring our expertise in AI development to ensure that we promote responsible applications.

The Lamarr Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence focuses, among other things, on the areas of Trustworthy AI and Resource-aware ML. On the one hand, the aim is to develop trustworthy AI systems that are transparent, fair and reliable. At the same time, the focus is also on sustainability by consciously examining resource consumption and developing efficient ML solutions. Through interdisciplinary approaches, innovative methods are researched and implemented to find innovative and sustainable solutions for current issues and to strengthen society’s trust in AI technologies.
