On March 14th, the first workshop for this year’s group of the MinTU mentoring program took place, organized by the Lamarr Institute. Nearly 40 female students had the opportunity to gain exciting insights into the world of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in two breakout groups.
In the conference room at the Lamarr Institute, participants first received an introductory lecture about the complexity of computer science, information about studying it, as well as a clear overview of basic terms from the fields of AI and Machine Learning. Afterwards, they were able to become active themselves: Whether as animal experts analyzing animal moods, as mushroom enthusiasts on a mycological excursion, or as part of a neural network – the interactive workshop offered numerous opportunities for exploration and experimentation. The event was characterized by curiosity, fun, teamwork, and a healthy dose of eagerness to learn.
About the MinTU Mentoring Program – Girls at TU Dortmund
The MinTU project aims to inspire girls aged 12 to 14 years in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology (STEM). Throughout the one-year program, around 50 girls get to know various STEM faculties at TU Dortmund through workshops and regularly meet with their mentor as well as other participants from their group. Interested female students from all types of schools in Dortmund and surrounding areas can participate. The next registration deadline for the program is December 31st – interested individuals can sign up via the registration form. As places are limited, feedback regarding participation will be provided after the deadline.
