Michael Kamp Joins Lamarr Institute as Professor

The Lamarr Institute is pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Michael Kamp will be joining as its newest professor. With a strong background in Trustworthy AI and Machine Learning, Prof. Kamp combines extensive theoretical knowledge with practical experience. His research focuses on developing efficient, privacy-preserving, and reliable methods for applying AI in critical areas such as healthcare, cybersecurity, and autonomous systems – essential qualities for deploying AI in sensitive domains such as healthcare, cybersecurity, and autonomous systems.

Prof. Kamp’s research spans several cutting-edge areas of Machine Learning. He specializes in privacy-preserving federated learning, which allows decentralized data processing while ensuring data security. Additionally, he explores the theoretical foundations of deep learning to provide strong guarantees for model performance and reliability. Another key focus is explainable models – an area critical for building trust between AI systems and practitioners who rely on them in high-stakes environments.

Beyond his technical expertise, Prof. Kamp has collaborated with industry leaders to apply his research in real-world contexts such as healthcare, material science, cybersecurity, and autonomous driving. His contributions have not only advanced scientific understanding but also addressed practical challenges faced by organizations working at the forefront of innovation.
