Workshop at IROS 2024: Toward Robot Avatars

On October 15, 2024, from 08:30 to 12:30 GST, Prof. Dr. Sven Behnke, Area Chair for Embodied AI at the Lamarr Institute and head of the Autonomous Intelligent Systems research group at the University of Bonn, will co-organize the 3rd Workshop Toward Robot Avatars as part of IROS, which will take place this year at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi. This workshop will explore the role of robotic avatar systems, which enable the transmission of human senses, actions, and presence across large distances.

The workshop will address current developments in areas such as telerobotics, haptic interfaces, and humanoid robotic systems. Applications of avatar technology include emergency response, healthcare, and remote travel, allowing physical interactions in distant environments.

Key speakers include Takahide Yoshiike (R&D Co., Ltd.), Kouta Minamizawa (Keio University), and Harsimran Singh (German Aerospace Center). The event offers a platform for discussing new perspectives and research challenges in avatar technology.
