NeurIPS 2025: The 39th Annual Conference on Neural Processing Systems
From December 2 to 7, 2025, NeurIPS 2025 – the 39th Annual Conference on Neural Processing Systems, will take place in San Diego, USA. We are delighted to announce that the paper “RiverMamba: A State Space Model for Global River Discharge and Flood Forecasting,” developed by a research group led by Jürgen Gall, Principal Investigator for Embodied AI at the Lamarr Institute, will be presented at the conference. This groundbreaking project focuses on the development of the deep learning system “River Mamba,” which can make accurate predictions about floodings based on meteorological data. It is particularly outstanding due to both the accuracy of its results and its broad field of application. While many previous models are limited to specific regions, RiverMamba can generally be applied to all bodies of water.
About NeurIPS
The NeurIPS conference is organized by the Neural Information Processing Systems Foundation. This non-profit organization launched the annual event in 1987. It encompasses a whole range of formats – the main part of the conference consists of events related to accepted academic papers, such as discussions and lectures. It is complemented by a series of interactive events such as workshops and tutorials which focus on applying the research findings.
Jürgen Gall
Jürgen Gall has been a professor and head of the Computer Vision working group at the University of Bonn since June 2013. He also works at the Lamarr Institute as a principal investigator in the field of embodied AI. In 2013, he received a grant for an independent Emmy Noether research group from the German Research Foundation (DFG), in 2014 the German Pattern Recognition Award from the German Pattern Recognition Association (DAGM), and in 2016 an ERC Starting Grant. Since 2017, he has been spokesperson for the DFG-funded research group Anticipating Human Behavior at the University of Bonn.
