EGOI 2025: European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics comes to Bonn

From July 14–20, 2025, the city of Bonn will host the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI)—a prestigious international programming competition for female and non-binary secondary school students. EGOI 2025 is jointly organized by BWINF (Bundesweite Informatikwettbewerbe), Deutsche Telekom AG, and Jane Street, bringing together public, academic, and industry partners in support of young talent in computer science. The University of Bonn, a partner institution of the Lamarr Institute, is also contributing to the event’s local coordination.

Founded in 2021, EGOI has rapidly become a global platform for empowering the next generation of programmers. The competition mirrors the format of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), with contestants solving challenging algorithmic problems through code over two five-hour contests.

What to Expect

Throughout the week, participants from across Europe and beyond will engage in algorithmic problem-solving at a level typically taught in early university courses. Each contest day features four tasks that test both logical thinking and programming precision.

Beyond the competition, the event includes a rich social and educational program—featuring a Deutsche Telekom Day, a Jane Street Day, and a day-long excursion—providing opportunities for cultural exchange, networking, and community-building.
