Bundeswettbewerb Künstliche Intelligenz (BWKI) – National Competition for Artificial Intelligence
On November 14, 2025 the finalists of the BWKI will gather in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Among the Jury is Prof. Lucie Flek from the Lamarr Institute.
What is the BWKI
The Bundeswettbewerb Künstliche Intelligenz (BWKI) is organized by the Tübingen AI Center: a research centre at Universität Tübingen in cooperation with the Max‑Planck‑Institut for intelligent systems.
The competition invites young pupils to bring their most ambitious AI‑ideas to life. Students from secondary schools, additionally those in their first year after graduation, are encouraged to get together in teams of up to four, develop a project using artificial intelligence and machine learning and submit their work.
Why the BWKI matters
The BWKI encourages aspiring researchers to strenghten their knowledge and interests and furthermore serves as an option to connect with fellow interests. Additionally, it further promotes the Lamarr institute’s value of shaping the future of AI together. The Lamarr Institute has recetly welcomed female and non-binary students as well. About the Jury
The BWKI invites Prof. Lucie Flek of the Lamarr Institute as a member of the jury. Her background in natural language processing, Machine‑Learning research and AI safety brings high‑level expertise to the evaluation of the finalists.
