ATRASS SEMINAR: Hercules and the Hydra – Lamarr Perspectives on Ensuring Trustworthy AI

About the Talk

Ensuring the trustworthiness of AI systems may seem like a Herculean task. Addressing this challenge requires breaking the problem down across multiple dimensions, including technological architectures and application domains.

In this ATRASS talk, Prof. Dr. Jakob Rehof will provide insights into ongoing research at the Lamarr Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, one of Germany’s national AI Centers of Excellence. The presentation will highlight interdisciplinary approaches to Trustworthy AI and discuss how lessons learned from the history of verification research can help shape future AI systems.

Speaker

Prof. Dr. Jakob Rehof is Professor of Computer Science and Chair of Software Engineering at TU Dortmund University. Since April 2024, he has served as Director of the Lamarr Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. He is also Director of Research Strategy at Fraunhofer ISST.

Before joining TU Dortmund, Rehof worked as a researcher at Microsoft Research in Redmond, USA, and held a visiting research position at Stanford University. His research spans software engineering, formal verification, trustworthy systems, and artificial intelligence.
