Florian Mai

Florian Mai is a postdoctoral researcher and junior research group leader at the University of Bonn. His research focuses on aligning large language models, particularly in the domain of reasoning. He currently leads projects on scalable oversight and value learning in reasoning models and collaborates with partners across Europe on the next generation of European LLMs. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at KU Leuven, where he worked on teaching language models to plan from unlabeled data. Florian earned his doctorate from EPFL, where he collaborated with Dr. James Henderson on efficient text representation learning methods.
