Chris McCool is a full professor at the University of Bonn and heads the Agricultural Robotics and Engineering group since 2019. His research focuses on robotic/computer vision to enable robots and autonomous systems to work in challenging environments (including agriculture). This involves the application and development of machine learning and AI algorithms which can operate on robots (efficient methods) in challenging environments (robust methods). Chris has published over 70 peer-reviewed scientific papers with multiple award winning publications and he is an associate editor of Pattern Recognition. He is a principal investigator (PI) and on the steering committee of the Cluster of Excellence PhenoRob as well as being the speaker of a DFG AI Research Unit AID4Crops.
