Im Jahr 2006 promovierte er in Informatik an der TU M\u00fcnchen. Er hat sowohl geforscht als auch gelehrt an der TU M\u00fcnchen, der ETH Z\u00fcrich und der TU Dresden. Er war Postdoktorand am IBM T.J. Watson Lab in Hawthorne, NY, USA und Gastforscher bei Oracle Labs in Redwood Shores, CA, USA. Seit 2013 hat er die Professur f\u00fcr Datenbanken und Informationssysteme an der TU Dortmund inne.
